Kin & Kulture started with a question I couldn’t stop thinking about:
“What will my children know beyond me?”After losing my dad and moving countries, I started thinking differently about time, family, and the things we assume will always be there.
Growing up, culture wasn’t something I had to learn. It was all around me. It lived in the way we greeted elders, the stories shared at gatherings, the meals on the table, the words our parents repeated, the laughter, traditions, values, and little things that quietly shaped us.
I never imagined there would come a day when I would have to intentionally preserve those things.
Then I became a parent.
And I realised something.
My children know me.
But would they know the people who came before me?
Would they know their grandparents beyond photographs? Would they know where they come from? Would they understand the meaning behind our traditions? The values that shaped our family? The stories that made us who we are?
I realised that stories, culture, and identity can slowly disappear not because people don’t care, but because life happens.
Days become months, months become years and suddenly the stories you thought would always be told aren't.
Kin & Kulture was born from a desire to change that. Not through lectures or textbooks, but through moments.
Questions that become stories, stories that become memories, memories that become legacy.
Because children shouldn't only inherit names.They should inherit identity.
They should inherit belonging. They should inherit the stories, traditions, values, and roots that remind them:
“This is who I am.”
“This is where I come from.”
“This is the family that lives in me.”
